3rd & 4th Boys
Coach Matt Clark is a native to Rancho Bernardo and found his passion for basketball while playing club basketball for the RB Broncos under Coach Bob Spahn. He graduated from RB High School and is now currently going back to college to pursue his teaching degree at Cal State San Marcos. Matt Clark has been coaching with the NYBC program since it began in 2009. He will also be returning for his 3rd year as the Freshman head coach for Del Norte High School. Matt also spent 6 years working along side Jim Brogan who runs one of the most successful shooting clinics in San Diego. Matt truly enjoys working with young players and not only teaching them basketball skills, but using the game he loves to teach players valuable life lessons.
Coach Jeff Lyles is a Bay Area native and sports enthusiast who graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Architecture while also a member of the Men's Baseball Team. After joining the work force, he and his wife Ana decided to relocate to San Diego to raise their three boys, Kellen (8), Landen (6) and Torrey (5). Jeff has spent each of the past two years as a volunteer basketball coach for the 4S Ranch Boys and Girls Club and is excited to be a part of the Del Norte basketball program.
Coach Saylor Fox graduated from Clemson University in 2009 with a Secondary Education - History Degree. Coach Fox is originally from Columbia, SC where he played basketball and ran track and field all four years at Chapin High School. He was named co-captain of both teams his senior year and received All-Region and All-Upper State Honors in both sports. After high school he pursued his basketball career by attending a Div.-III program at Roanoke College in Virginia. After his freshman year, he transferred to Clemson University and became a student manager/scout team member for the Men's and Women's Clemson Basketball Programs. During this time, he also served as a Head Student Intramurals Supervisor with Clemson Campus Recreation. After college, Coach Fox taught social science and served as an assistant boys basketball coach at Dutch Fork High School in Columbia, SC for 4 years. He was then named the head girls basketball coach at Mauldin High School in Greenville, SC where he continued to coach and teach for an additional 4 years. He is married to his wife Chelsea Fox and has a 9-month old son named Waylon. He is proud to have the opportunity to serve as an assistant girls coach with Del Norte High School and to work directly with the Nighthawk Youth Basketball Program this coming season.
Coach Mike Koshi played all four years of basketball for South Torrance High School in Los Angeles. Coach Koshi then attended UC San Diego where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Management Science. Coach Koshi continued to play recreational basketball while in college. After college, Coach Koshi played volleyball for about 25 years. Coach Koshi is married to Alison and his son, Dylan, plays on the 6th grade Nighthawks team. Coach Koshi coached all of Dylan's recreational basketball teams for the last 6 years as well as volleyball teams. Coach Koshi looks forward to continuing to build on the success our teams enjoyed last year and help the players develop their skills.
7th & 8th Boys
Coach Lamar Andrews played basketball at the collegiate level while attending California State University, Chico. Graduating with a double major in Political Science and Sociology. Coach Andrews is a Certified Contract Advisor/NFLPA and President/CEO of a Sports Management firm called Shining Stars Management, Inc. Coach Andrews has leveraged his understanding of basketball, both on and off the court, to teach, train and motivate young players. Over the last several years, Lamar has coached and trained at every grade level and has developed a following for his one-on-one workouts. Coach Andrews is married to Dee Dee Andrews with two kids Savvy and Amon.
