Q.When will we know if our player made the club team and how will we be notified.
A.All club team rosters will be posted at the Team Page of this web site on September 10th. Due to the large number of players participating in tryouts, it is optional for the coach to make personal phone calls. If your player made a club team, he/she is expected to attend the first All Club practice on Sep 11th at DNHS Gym (time TBA).
Q.How many teams will the club have and what grades?
A.The number of teams we form is based on the number of participants attending tryouts that have the skill set to compete at the AAU Club level. It is our hopes to form the following: 3rd Boys (1 team) 4th Boys (1 team), 5th Boys (1 team), 6th Boys (1 team), 7th Boys (2 teams), 8th Boys (2 teams), 5/6th Girls (1 team), 7th Girls (1 team), 8th Girls (1 team).
Q.How long does the season last?
A.Our club program starts on or about September 9th and ends on or about June 23rd. We have three (3) seasons during the 9 month period. Fall season: Sep 9th - Dec 10th (or the date of the last scheduled game) Winter season: Dec 16th - Mar 17th (or the date of the last scheduled game) Spring season: Mar 23rd - Jun 23rd (or the date of the last scheduled game)
Q.Do all kids who tryout make a team?
A.No, we will select no more than 10 players per team. We may have more than 1 team per division; however this will be decided during the tryout period.
Q.How many practices per week and where?
A.Two practices per week at either Del Norte High School, Oak Valley Middle School, or other local gym facilities within a 20 minute drive from 4S Ranch.
Q.What days are practices and how long?
A.Practices are normally held on Mondays - Fridays and last 90 minutes unless the coach notifies families should they practice longer. We occasionally will have a practice on Saturday. We do our very best to keep all grades/teams practicing on the same nights each week, however there will be some weeks when practices will be on a different day than normally assigned. The monthly practice schedule is typically published two weeks prior to the start of the month. We do not schedule out more than 45 days as it is very difficult to know what gym time is available to us.
Q.When are games played?
A.Games are mostly played on Saturdays with an occasional Sunday game. Some teams will participate in Friday night games when arranged by the coach and approved by the teams parents.
Q.Can a player attend tryouts but not join a team until winter?
A.All players are encouraged to attend our tryouts, however we do ask that if they are unable to play in the fall season, this needs to be brought to the attention of the coach. There are no guarantee’s that a spot will be held for this player but we will allow the player to come back in the winter and be re-evaluated for a spot on the team.
Q.Can a player participate in 2 sports knowing there are possible conflicts?
A.We will allow a player to participate in our club if he/she is also participating in another sport. We do ask that they attend as many practices and games as possible. While we do realize that fall is football & soccer season, and spring is baseball & softball season, we will understand should these sports be the player’s first priority. We will also expect that in the winter season, basketball be their first priority over any other sport.
Q.Is there an expected participation commitment?
A.Our expectations are that all practices and games are attended. We do understand that school and other activities can cause for absence. We request that this be communicated to the coach in advance so practices can be planned accordingly.
Q.What payment method does the club accept and how much is the membership fee and?
A.Effective Sep 1, 2018 the NYBC will only accept payment online. Payment will be made quarterly on Sep 1st, Dec 1st, Mar 1st. The cost to participate will be $400 per quarter (3 months). We will still offer a sibling discount of 10% off the second and third child. We no longer accept monthly payments.
Q.Are players required to have a NYBC Uniform (Jersey & Short)
A.Yes, all players of the NYBC are required to have a uniform that consists of a reversible jersey and a short. The cost is $60 for the set or $30 per item.
Q.Are players guaranteed to play in all games?
A.It is always our goal to ensure players participate in all games. There are circumstances that would preclude players from participating in games, i.e. many absences from practices, illness, negative attitude, etc. The parent is always encouraged to communicate with the coach regarding these matters.
Q.If a player is selected for a team, is he/she guaranteed this spot for the 9 month program season?
A.While it is our normal practice to keep players on the team for the entire 9 months, we do reserve the right to remove or add players at the end/beginning of each quarter should the need arise.
Q.Should the player attend all tryout dates?
A.It is not mandatory but highly encouraged. The more tryouts a player has could serve to his/her benefit.
